By Sunday evening, several lines on London’s underground train network were already at a standstill. Transport for London (TfL), which manages the system, has announced there will be little to no service from Monday through Thursday. The RMT trade union called for the strike on the Tube, which carries up to five million passengers daily, as part of their campaign for better pay and conditions.
Drivers, along with signalling and maintenance workers, are participating in the strike after having rejected TfL’s proposal for a 3.4% pay raise. The workers are also demanding a reduction in their working hours. As a result of the strike, concert organizers were forced to postpone two shows by American singer Post Malone, which were scheduled for Sunday and Monday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
