According to details that emerged on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to ensure the swift completion of rescue and relief preparations. The Prime Minister, speaking from Beijing, was briefed on the prevailing flood situation by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik during a telephone call.
The Prime Minister was informed of the rising water levels in the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers, as well as the ongoing relief efforts. In light of the escalating flood levels, he has also directed that the public in affected areas be informed in advance about the flood risk.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need for provincial governments to coordinate fully, expedite safety measures, and accelerate relief operations.
