According to official documents from the Economic Affairs Division of Pakistan, the World Bank will provide more than $2 billion in loans to Pakistan during the current fiscal year.
This financing, to be extended through the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), will be allocated to projects in various sectors, including agriculture, energy, water, finance, revenue, governance, and social services.
57 Active Projects Valued at $16.6 Billion
Currently, 57 World Bank-funded projects, worth $16.6 billion, are active across the country. These initiatives cover a wide range of areas such as communication, rural and urban development, human capital investment, and governance reforms. The bank has also pledged an additional $8.6 billion for upcoming projects in the coming years.
Funding Trends Over the Years
Over the past seven years, Pakistan has received $11.84 billion in World Bank loans, with the energy sector receiving the largest share at $1.96 billion.

- 2024-25: $1.80 billion
- 2023-24: $2.24 billion
- 2022-23: $2.12 billion
- 2021-22: $1.59 billion
- 2020-21: $2.0 billion
- 2019-20: $1.37 billion
