After a five-year hiatus, Lady Gaga is officially making her comeback to the MTV VMAs stage this year. On Saturday, August 30, 2025, MTV confirmed the singer’s return in an official statement.
The VMAs’ official Instagram account announced, “There will be magic in the air at the 2025 #VMAs because @LADYGAGA IS PERFORMING!” It added, “You won’t want to miss her return, September 7 on @cbstv and @paramountplus!”
Gaga is scheduled to perform on September 6 and 7, joining artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, and Post Malone. She is a leading nominee at this year’s awards with 12 nods.
This announcement comes as Lady Gaga prepares to release her new track, Dead Dance, on September 3, which will be featured in the second part of season 2 of the Netflix show Wednesday. Gaga, who will be a guest star on the show, made the announcement at Netflix and Spotify’s Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York City. “I’m taking a little break from the Mayhem Ball to come say hello,” she said. “I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday season two, even just being a small part of the show. I loved working with Tim Burton and Jenna.” She added, “Everyone here is so incredible. Thank you. I’m also here to confirm that my song ‘The Dead Dance’ is coming September 3.”
