The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for motorists in light of the Independence Day and “Marka-e-Haq” event scheduled for this evening at the National Bank Stadium. According to the advisory, the event will begin at 6:00 PM, and heavy traffic congestion is anticipated on all routes leading to the venue starting from 5:00 PM.
Officials have warned that significant traffic bottlenecks could persist until 2:00 AM. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel between the Civic Centre and the National Stadium during these hours.
The term “Marka-e-Haq” was designated by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal for this year’s celebrations to commemorate the nation’s resilience and pride following the April-May military conflict with India. This term refers to the period from the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to the conclusion of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos on May 10. The conflict began in April with an attack on tourists in IIOJK, which New Delhi blamed on Islamabad. In response, Pakistan’s armed forces initiated a large-scale retaliatory military action, code-named “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” targeting several Indian military sites.
During the confrontation, Pakistan shot down six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, and dozens of drones. The war between the two nuclear-armed nations concluded after 87 hours with a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10. US President Donald Trump was the first to announce the ceasefire on social media. While India has disputed his claims of intervention, Pakistan has formally acknowledged his role in de-escalating tensions and has recommended him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
