The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced record-breaking recoveries of Rs456 billion in the second quarter of 2025 (April to June), bringing the total for the first half of the year (January to June) to a massive Rs547 billion. According to a report by The News on Sunday, funds were also returned to 12,611 victims of various fraud cases.
Over the past two years, NAB has recovered an extraordinary total of Rs 5,854.73 billion in movable and immovable assets. The bureau released its mid-year performance report for 2025, reaffirming its dedication to fighting corruption and standing firm against lawbreakers. The report highlights NAB’s unwavering commitment to protecting public interests by intensifying efforts to recover misappropriated funds.
These recent recoveries are 700% greater than the Rs839.08 billion recovered since the bureau’s establishment. Out of the Rs547.31 billion recovered in the first two quarters of 2025, movable and immovable properties worth Rs532.33 billion have been handed over to various federal and provincial government ministries, departments, and financial institutions.
NAB’s determined efforts are reflected in the Rs456.3 billion recovered during the second quarter of 2025, which marks a significant increase of Rs365.29 billion compared to the Rs91.01 billion recovered in the first quarter of the same year.
Currently, NAB is working closely with the Revenue Departments across all provinces to recover state assets and properties illegally held by corrupt individuals. Initial estimates suggest that state land worth approximately Rs5 trillion is under illegal possession and will be reclaimed.
