Shawn Mendes, the 26-year-old pop star, has reportedly moved to a small, tranquil village in the Cotswolds. According to a source who spoke to The Sun, Mendes is enjoying life in Great Tew, a village in the south-west of England, which is also home to many other celebrities.
The source shared that Mendes has rented a home in the village, seeking “peace and quiet” before he embarks on his next tour. The locals have apparently welcomed him, giving him the privacy he desires. The insider noted, “No one ever asks him for a selfie so he must be loving the fact he’s left alone. But when he walks into cafes and pubs in the area, heads do turn.”
Mendes, who was previously in a high-profile relationship with pop star Camila Cabello, has become the “talk of the village” but is treated like “a normal person.” The source provided an anecdote to illustrate this point: “The last time he was in the cafe, he got a telling-off because he was ordering his food right before the kitchen closed. They told him to hurry up and order.” The source jokingly added, “The poor lad. He’s the talk of the village.”
Mendes has been open in the past about the challenges of fame. He told NME that his relationship with stardom is “a constant relationship, like anything.” He described going through periods where he would delete social media to escape public scrutiny, as well as times when he became overly concerned with public opinion.
