Two weeks after Andy Byron, the married CEO of the company Astronomer, was caught on a “kiss-cam” at a Coldplay concert with his arms around the company’s HR executive, Kristin Cabot, Gwyneth Paltrow has stepped in to address the unfolding corporate scandal. The Goop founder was recently featured in an advertisement for Astronomer.
Paltrow, who was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2003 to 2016, appeared in casual business attire and delivered a brief announcement in the video. “I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” she stated.
The Iron Man actress added that the company had received “a lot of questions over the last few days” since the scandal went viral. As Paltrow began to explain that she would be answering some common questions about Astronomer, the very first question prompted her to react with an “OMG! What the actual f**k?” before she promptly skipped it entirely.
Paltrow then transitioned into her role as temporary spokesperson for the company, explaining, “Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data, ML and AI pipelines at scale.” Without directly addressing any of the pressing questions related to the scandal, she concluded, “We will now be returning to what we do best, which is delivering game-changing results for our customers. Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”
This unexpected appearance comes after the July 15 Coldplay concert incident, where the kiss-cam panned to Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot. Byron was seen with his arms wrapped around Cabot. Upon realizing they were being shown on a jumbotron, both appeared flustered and attempted to hide from the camera. Chris Martin’s on-stage reaction to the moment was, “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
