A newlywed woman, who was undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital for injuries reportedly sustained from her husband’s torture, tragically passed away on Wednesday due to pulmonary arrest. Hospital authorities stated, “The woman’s intestines were damaged [and] she died a short while ago,” adding that the victim had undergone an abdominal surgery where half of her intestines were removed.
The woman was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on July 4 and had been receiving treatment at the Trauma Centre. “The woman’s condition was critical from the beginning, she never regained consciousness and was on a ventilator as her lungs were filled with water,” authorities further elaborated.
Meanwhile, the police have apprehended the suspect, identified as an individual named “Ashok.” A case has been registered at the Baghdadi Police Station in Lyari based on the complaint filed by the victim’s brother. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the 19-year-old victim was married on June 15. Soon after, her health deteriorated, prompting her family to bring her back home. The victim later informed her parents that her husband had sexually assaulted her using a foreign object. The FIR also states that the suspect had threatened her with severe repercussions if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
