Kelly Clarkson, age 43, has finally launched her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum inside Caesars Palace. This marks her second performance in Sin City in two years, though the initial shows were delayed.
Clarkson was recently forced to cancel two previously scheduled shows just hours before they were set to start, citing the need to “protect” her voice. Addressing the postponements during her recent performance, the “Since U Been Gone” singer apologized to the audience. “I’m so sorry if some of y’all had last weekend’s shows. I’m so sorry. We can’t help our bodies sometimes if we get sick, and that happens,” she explained.
The host of The Kelly Clarkson Show took a shot of tequila with a fan, stating, “I’m celebrating because I had to cancel last weekend. I cried. I was so sick, it sucked. I’m so happy to be here.” This was not the only apology issued for the canceled July 4 gig.
Clarkson also used her social media platforms to reveal that intense “prep and rehearsals” had “taken a toll” on her vocal cords, requiring time for recovery. A source later informed PEOPLE magazine that the “Stronger” singer was “devastated” by the decision, as she “didn’t want to cancel any shows.”
