The official notification regarding the seniority of Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges has been formally issued. According to this notification, Justice Sarfraz Dogar has been designated as the most senior judge of the IHC.
In the seniority ranking, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani holds the second position, followed by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb in third. Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri is ranked fourth, and Justice Babar Sattar is in the fifth position.
This seniority order was determined by the President of Pakistan, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directives to establish seniority based on the judges’ service records. The Ministry of Law and Justice issued the notification with the President’s approval.
Further down the seniority list, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq is sixth, Justice Arbab Tahir is seventh, Justice Saman Riffat is eighth, Justice Khadim Soomro is ninth, Justice Azam Khan is tenth, Justice Muhammad Asif is eleventh, and Justice Inam Minhas is twelfth.
Additionally, the notification confirms the permanent transfer of three judges, a decision also finalized by the President of Pakistan. Another significant legal matter was resolved by the President concurrently with this decision.
Judicial Commission to Convene on July 1 to Consider Permanent IHC Chief Justice Appointment
The process for appointing the permanent Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court has advanced, with the Judicial Commission scheduling a meeting for July 1.
According to sources, the commission will review the names of the three most senior judges of the Islamabad High Court for the top judicial position. These include Justice Sarfraz Dogar, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
The final decision regarding this appointment is anticipated following the commission’s deliberations.
