Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s relationship has reportedly been a series of ups and downs, but they seemed to be on good terms for the past few years. However, Katy’s recent appearance without her engagement ring has fueled speculation that their relationship is currently on the rocks.
How Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Began: For those unfamiliar with their story, their romance began in 2016 when they were seen getting quite close. A source confirmed to Us Weekly that they were “extremely flirty and whispering to each other. He would lean in to whisper into her ear and touch the small of her back as they chatted.”
Katy later confirmed their relationship with an Instagram post, featuring both actors in matching robes. After dating for almost a year, their representatives announced their breakup, stating, “Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.”
An insider told E! News that “Katy pulled the plug… they both still love each other very much. Katy has built a really strong connection with Flynn,” referring to Bloom’s son.
In April 2017, Orlando spoke in an interview, saying, “We’re friends, it’s good… It’s better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don’t have to be about hate.”
Orlando Bloom’s Proposal to Katy Perry: Then, in September 2018, the couple publicly solidified their relationship. The following year, the day after Valentine’s Day, Orlando proposed with a stunning 4.5-carat ruby and diamond ring. By March of the next year, they moved in together.
Reports indicated the couple was planning their wedding but had to postpone it, with sources revealing, “They changed the timing due to the location they want.”
Soon after, in March 2020, the couple announced their pregnancy via an Instagram post, where Katy wrote, “It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music.”
In August 2020, they welcomed their first child, releasing a statement that read, “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.”
Moving forward, in February 2022, Katy shared that they were still planning their wedding, but by 2023, their relationship was reportedly described as “challenging.”
Orlando commented, “We’re in two very different pools. Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity.”
While the couple hasn’t confirmed a split, an insider reportedly told the New York Post in June 2025, “It’s over. They’re just waiting until the tour is done before they split.”
