On Sunday, Pakistan issued a strong condemnation of the recent US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, which followed a series of Israeli strikes. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) spokesperson conveyed, “We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region.”
Pakistan reiterated that these attacks constitute a violation of all norms of international law and affirmed Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense under the UN Charter. The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, stemming from the ongoing aggression against Iran, is deemed deeply disturbing.
Pakistan warned that any further escalation of tensions would have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond. The Foreign Office emphasized the critical need to respect civilian lives and properties and to bring an immediate end to the conflict. “All parties must adhere to international law, particularly International Humanitarian Law,” the statement stressed.
Recourse to dialogue and diplomacy, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, remains the only viable pathway to resolve the crises in the region.
Pakistan Nominates Donald Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize
The government of Pakistan has officially announced its decision to recommend US President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. This nomination recognizes his crucial intervention during the recent military stand-off between Pakistan and India. According to a formal statement released by Islamabad on the government’s official X account, President Trump’s “decisive diplomatic engagement and pivotal leadership” were instrumental in de-escalating what was described as an extremely volatile situation between the two nuclear-armed nations, potentially averting a full-scale war that could have endangered millions of lives.
The statement declared, “President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship by engaging both Islamabad and New Delhi at a critical moment. His efforts led to a ceasefire that averted a catastrophic conflict.”
