Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a crucial telephonic discussion with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian amid escalating regional tensions, following recent strikes by the U.S. and Israel on Iran.
The Prime Minister vehemently condemned the American aggression and Israel’s “unprovoked and unjustified military actions” against Iran. He denounced these attacks as blatant violations of international law and a severe breach of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) protections.
Expressing profound condolences for the tragic loss of lives and offering prayers for the swift recovery of those injured, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people and their leadership. “Targeting IAEA-protected sites is not only reckless but a direct assault on global norms,” the Prime Minister asserted.
Calling for immediate de-escalation, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that negotiations and diplomacy represent the only viable path forward. He urged the international community to undertake collective action to defuse the crisis and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting regional peace.
Iranian President Pezeshkian conveyed deep gratitude for Pakistan’s timely support and solidarity, acknowledging the strong backing from the people, government, and military leadership of Pakistan.
As the region edges closer to instability, Islamabad’s call for calm and dialogue could serve as a crucial voice for peace in an increasingly volatile Middle East.
