The International Cricket Council (ICC) has, in principle, agreed to reduce Test matches from five days to four for the majority of its member nations.
According to British media reports, this proposal will come into effect during the 2027–29 World Test Championship cycle. However, it will not apply to India, England, or Australia, who will continue to play five-day Tests.
Under this new arrangement, all other Test-playing nations, including Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies, will compete in four-day matches.
