The Pakistan Meteorological Department has projected that the ongoing severe heatwave is set to persist until June 21. Across Islamabad and the broader nation, daytime temperatures are anticipated to remain exceptionally high, posing a significant risk to susceptible individuals.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the plains of Punjab, sweltering daytime conditions are expected to prevail. Similarly, the upper and central districts of Sindh, alongside the southern and eastern parts of Balochistan, will experience continuous intense heat throughout the day. Authorities have strongly advised citizens to maintain hydration, minimize outdoor exposure during peak hours, and pay close attention to warnings regarding heatstroke.
Hospitals have been instructed to make preparations for an increase in patients suffering from heat-related ailments, and relief organizations are actively deploying resources to distribute water and cooling provisions in the most severely affected areas. Schools in certain regions are contemplating reduced operating hours to safeguard students from the extreme temperatures.
