Bryce Dallas Howard, the director of The Mandalorian, had previously hinted at the possible resurrection of Samuel L. Jackson’s Mace Windu. However, in a recent interview with The Direct, when asked about the actor potentially reprising his character in an upcoming Star Wars project, she stated, “Well, I mean, I want to work with Sam Jackson, just no matter what, in any circumstance. And I also love working in Star Wars.”
The filmmaker added, “I harass Dave Filoni a lot about a lot of things,” indicating that efforts to bring back the megastar are “one of them; however, those conversations have not added up to anything.” The director reiterated, “And so, you know, I harass Dave Filoni a lot about a lot of things, and that’s just one, but, yeah, no, that was a fun conversation, but didn’t add up to anything.”
Meanwhile, Mark Hamill, known for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker, recently criticized the creators of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. On the Today show, he recounted, “When I would complain about things – in the third one, I said, ‘Luke has lost his hand, he’s got the black glove, shouldn’t it be about Luke struggling with turning to the dark side?’ George said, ‘Mark, it’s for children.'” He continued, “And that’s why he would never consider killing any of the main characters. In the new ones, they pop us off one at a time.” Mark concluded by saying, “But my deal is, I had my time. I’m appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.”
