Senator Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, recently engaged in a telephone conversation with the United Kingdom’s newly appointed Foreign Secretary, the Rt Hon David Lammy MP.
This discussion is part of ongoing diplomatic outreach in anticipation of the high-level events scheduled for the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York later this month.
According to the Foreign Office, both leaders assessed the current state of relations between Pakistan and the UK, emphasizing the significance of continued collaboration on global issues of shared concern.
Senator Dar extended his congratulations to Mr. Lammy on assuming the role of UK’s Foreign Secretary. He also expressed confidence that both nations would work in close cooperation to advance their common interests on the international stage.
The two officials also exchanged perspectives on recent regional developments and agreed to maintain regular communication. It was further decided that Senator Dar and Mr. Lammy would hold an in-person meeting on the sidelines of their upcoming high-level engagements at the United Nations.
