The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered and disbursed over Rs88 billion during the first quarter of 2025, covering the period from January to March, The News reported on Sunday.
According to a report released by NAB on Saturday, this total comprises Rs2.085 billion in direct recoveries and Rs86 billion in indirect recoveries. The latter primarily involved public and private land assets linked to cases of unlawful transfers and illegal occupation.
The recovered amounts were subsequently returned to the relevant affected parties and institutions.
Regarding indirect recoveries, NAB Balochistan retrieved state land measuring 340 acres of Chiltan Park and 250 acres of Forest Department land, valuing Rs6.45 billion.
NAB Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa secured Rs0.56 billion in a case titled inquiry against officers/officials of the University of Swabi, Revenue, and Forest departments.
NAB Lahore recovered a significant Rs70.87 billion in three major cases, including the Employees Cooperative Housing Society, State Life Insurance Employees Cooperative Housing Society, and Sarwar Omega Villas.
NAB Multan recovered Rs0.013 billion in the GFS 7 Wonders Housing Scheme, while NAB Sukkur recovered 610 acres of NHA land valued at Rs8.53 billion.
Concerning the disbursement of direct recoveries, NAB directly transferred Rs9.72 million to the federal government, Rs10.80 million to provincial governments, and Rs73.51 million to various departments/financial institutions, among others.
Furthermore, a substantial portion amounting to Rs1,990.771 million was directly distributed among 19,105 victims of various scams.
The recoveries made in the first quarter of 2025 have elevated NAB’s overall recovery amount since its inception to Rs6.236 trillion, of which a significant 62.92% (Rs3.92 trillion) was recovered in the last 18 months.
These recoveries were facilitated through plea bargains, voluntary returns, and settlements with individuals and entities.
