Pakistan’s baseball team got off to a winning start as they kicked off their campaign to defend their title in the West Asia Cup, defeating Bangladesh by a score of 10-6 in a thrilling match on Friday in Iran.
Despite some early errors, the team mounted a strong comeback to begin their title defence on a high note.
The game began dramatically, with Pakistan scoring six quick runs in the first inning. However, Bangladesh responded with five runs, capitalising on some fielding errors by Pakistan.
The turning point arrived when bowler Syed Muhib Shah stepped up, delivering an excellent performance to steady the team. He bowled brilliantly for nearly six innings, conceding just one run and guiding Pakistan to victory.
Pakistan’s batting effort was spearheaded by Abdul Raziq, who continued his fine form with another solid hit, while Aashir Abbas and Muhammad Rehan also made significant contributions with crucial runs.
The team displayed great fighting spirit despite their shaky start, demonstrating why they are the defending champions.
The match lasted for just three hours. In their next fixture, Pakistan will face Iran, the host nation. With Bangladesh having lost both of their games, Pakistan’s place in the semi-final is already secured. Now, the match against Iran will determine their group standing and their opponents in the semi-final.
