Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has confirmed that Pakistan has not apprehended any Indian pilot during the recent engagements with the neighboring country.
Speculation and numerous videos have circulated on social media following Pakistan’s retaliatory action against India, alleging the arrest of an Indian female pilot named Shivangi Singh in Pakistan after her aircraft was hit.
Addressing the media on Sunday, the armed forces spokesperson was questioned about whether Pakistan had taken an Indian pilot into custody and if the pilot would be returned.
“I can state very clearly that we do not have any pilot in our custody. This is purely social media discourse. It is part of the various sources of misinformation and propaganda that have been generated from multiple origins,” he asserted.
The Indian government has also dismissed the social media claims as untrue, urging the public “not to be misled by false information.”
Responding to another query regarding the Indian Air Force (IAF)’s statement that operations are still underway, despite the Indian government’s agreement to a ceasefire, the ISPR DG stated that Pakistani armed forces remain vigilant and prepared to counter any aggression.
“We have demonstrated this on the ground on numerous occasions,” he added.
