The shocking part is that the new concert posters prominently feature the name of Puru Kaul as the national promoter the same person whom Atif Aslam had recently accused of promoting fake shows. Just a few days ago, Aslam posted a formal message on Facebook stating that all shows being advertised under his name in the U.S. and Canada were fake. He warned fans to only trust information coming from official sources. He alleged that promoters were fraudulently selling tickets using his name, without any association with him. Screenshots of this statement are still circulating on social media, and the original post has not yet been deleted.
According to well-informed sources, after this controversy, Atif Aslam was allegedly threatened by the national promoter that if he breached their agreement, details about his past tax evasion, illegal money transfers to Dubai via hawala, and black money dealings would be reported to the U.S. tax authority, the IRS. This threat was serious in nature, as IRS involvement can lead to severe legal consequences for any foreign artist.
Sources further claim that Puru Kaul possesses documentation of previous financial contracts, payments, and a potential illegal money trail involving Dubai, which he was prepared to use for legal action. In light of this threat, Atif Aslam not only reversed his earlier statements but re-signed a deal with the same promoter he had labeled “fake.” His fans are now calling this a case of “spitting and licking it back.”
According to insiders, a new agreement has been reached between Atif Aslam and the national promoter. Under this contract, the promoter is tasked with organizing thirteen shows across the U.S. and Canada. If these shows are not completed within the set timeframe, the agreement could be canceled.
The contract also includes a key condition that Atif Aslam must be paid several hundred thousand dollars in advance. Reportedly, the promoter has already paid him $500,000, of which $100,000 was due from prior obligations. As of now, seven shows have been confirmed, while the promoter is under pressure to sell the remaining six shows in different American cities.
This situation poses significant commercial and legal challenges for the national promoter. Will he be able to fulfill this tour? Will all financial requirements be met? Only time will tell.
When Jago Times reached out to other promoters, they stated that Atif Aslam made a mistake by calling his other shows “fake,” and in doing so, he sparked a new conflict with Indian-origin American promoters. They believe this dispute is not due to current India-Pakistan tensions, but rather a result of Atif Aslam’s personal financial motives.
Sources add that for several years, the Indian film industry has stopped featuring Atif Aslam’s songs, effectively cutting off a major source of revenue for him in India. In this scenario, the U.S. concert circuit has become his primary means to meet annual financial goals. Thus, this is not merely a promotional issue but part of a larger international financial strategy.
The pressing question now is: if the promoter contacts the IRS and they open an investigation, will Atif Aslam face legal action in the U.S.? Will this set a new precedent in the entertainment world, where artists abandon all ethical and legal standards just to secure financial gain?

This controversy has raised serious concerns about ethics, transparency, and legal integrity in the South Asian showbiz industry in the U.S. Not only is the credibility of artists at stake, but promoters and the legal system are also under scrutiny.
For now, fans are advised to rely solely on official and credible sources because in showbiz, things are rarely as they appear.
