Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has disclosed the significance of the loving nickname she uses for her husband, Prince Harry.
Meghan affectionately refers to Harry simply as “H.” Her consistent use of this shortened name has been well-documented, most recently featured in her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
During her inaugural podcast interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, Meghan shared the origin story behind this brief nickname for her husband.
The Suits star explained that she needed to devise the nickname when she first began dating Harry, as they had to keep their relationship a secret.
“I couldn’t tell anyone who I was dating, and he was keeping it [secret]. So I think we were just on a letter basis,” she recounted.
Harry also adopted Meghan’s initial as her nickname for the same reason. Subsequently, these nicknames became ingrained, and even their close friends and family started using their letter-based terms of endearment.
“I like nicknames a lot. I love nicknames,” the Duchess remarked.
Throughout the interview, she also spoke adoringly of Harry, with whom she shares her son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
“My husband’s very, very handsome. But his heart is even more beautiful. He’s also a fox, if you haven’t noticed,” Meghan Markle gushed.
