Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated a vibrant three-day “Punjabi Culture Day” on Thursday.
Addressing the colorful celebrations in Lahore, marking the start of the three-day Punjabi Culture Day, CM Maryam stated that there was a time when discussions revolved around Pakistan potentially facing bankruptcy, but today the Pakistan Stock Exchange is setting new records.
The Punjab Chief Minister emphasized that the resources available remained the same, but the patriotic leadership has directed them towards the welfare of the people, which has now steered the country onto a path of development.
CM Maryam shared a personal reflection, saying, “When I contemplate the immense challenge of managing the sustenance of 150 million people, it keeps me awake at night. My constant endeavor is to ensure that everyone can sleep peacefully after having two meals a day.”
She highlighted positive economic trends, stressing that inflation is on a decline, investment is increasing, and Pakistan is attracting the attention of the entire world.
Expressing her deep pride in Punjabi culture, she remarked that Punjab is a beautiful province, and its people should be proud of their language and culture, just as the people of Turkey cherish their own heritage.
She described Arif Lohar’s song “Ik Phul Motiye Da” as her all-time favorite and mentioned her lifelong fondness for Punjabi dramas and songs, dating back to her childhood.
The Chief Minister shared a poignant moment, recalling the distinct scent of the earth after rainfall during her time in Saudi Arabia, noting that such a fragrance also deeply resonates in Punjab.
She commended the successful organization of Mela Chiraghan and the Horse and Cattle Show, which was held after a hiatus of 30 years and witnessed a significant turnout of people.
Maryam Nawaz underscored the crucial importance of respecting parents, stating that Allah bestows honor upon those who respect their parents, citing her father Nawaz Sharif’s three-time tenure as Prime Minister as an example.
She lauded Azma Bokhari’s efforts as wonderful and announced her intention to meet with artists in the near future.
CM Maryam expressed her pride in her ability to speak both Punjabi and Urdu, concluding with the sentiment, “We must keep our traditions and culture alive.”
