Rana Sanaullah, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab chapter president, announced on Wednesday the launch of a public outreach campaign aimed at reorganizing and strengthening the party’s structure.
Speaking to journalists outside Jati Umra, Sanaullah, who also serves as an adviser to the prime minister on public and political affairs, stated that he would personally lead the campaign and present the ground realities to party president Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
He noted that the drive would initially focus on Punjab, but added that public rallies would also be held in other provinces once the PML-N president begins touring those areas.
This public outreach campaign will be the first since the disputed general elections of 2024. Pakistan held its largest election in history on February 8, 2024, which was notable for various reasons.
However, the election results did not meet the expectations of all political actors, as no single party secured a simple majority.
While PTI-affiliated independent candidates dominated the election results, the PML-N claimed to have sufficient numbers to form the government after some independents joined the Nawaz Sharif-led party post-election.
Commenting on the visit of American doctors to PTI founder Imran Khan, Sanaullah said that the doctors did not mention his release and were likely only there to inquire about his well-being.
He stated that everyone has the right to express their opinions on social media.
In response to a question regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, he said that Gandapur should have represented his province at the Pakistan Mineral Conference 2024.
“If he is not doing so, he is neglecting his responsibilities,” he added.
He further stated that the practice of filing false political cases must end and that political parties should engage in dialogue to resolve matters through mutual understanding.
