Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) has released a firm statement regarding the recent National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, underscoring the necessity of self-reflection rather than the practice of shifting blame onto others.
The party asserted that Pakistan is a blessing, and the failure to acknowledge and appreciate this has resulted in increased fear and hunger. JUI-F urged authorities to critically reassess their perspective on national affairs and address internal inconsistencies.
Highlighting discrepancies within state policies, JUI-F questioned the rationale behind Pakistan adopting divergent strategies during the Afghan war—one against the Soviet Union and another in support of the United States. The party also criticized Pakistan’s approach towards its neighboring countries, noting that while dialogue is promoted with other nations, a contradictory policy is applied in the case of Afghanistan.
JUI-F condemned the forced integration of FATA without consulting the local populace, stating that the repercussions are now being experienced.
The party also raised concerns regarding religious biases in the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. It questioned why religious scholars, madrassas, and pro-constitution religious groups were being targeted.
JUI-F accused authorities of intentionally setting religious groups against the state and criticized the efficacy of ongoing military operations, stating that despite repeated offensives, terrorism has escalated rather than diminished.
The party further denounced the displacement of civilians resulting from these operations, emphasizing that people lost their homes and villages, and the promised financial aid for reconstruction was never delivered.
JUI-F also held the establishment accountable for shifting responsibility across different regimes, arguing that this practice does not absolve them of their past errors.
The party emphasized that a genuine national vision must encompass both political and economic considerations, rather than being based on a unilateral agenda enforced through selective approval.
