On Monday, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar, and Farrukh Habib fugitives in two cases concerning the attack on the Judicial Complex.
The case, registered at the Ramna police station, was heard by ATC Judge Tahir Zafar Supra.
The court, noting the persistent absence of the accused from the proceedings, declared them fugitives and ordered the issuance of arrest warrants for other missing suspects, including Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi and Raja Basharat.
The court adjourned the hearing until April 7.
Judicial Complex Incidents
This case relates to events that occurred on March 1 and March 18, 2023. On March 1, PTI workers allegedly forced their way into the Judicial Complex when PTI founder Imran Khan arrived for a court appearance.
Reportedly, the mob vandalized the premises, leading to the arrest of 29 individuals, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police personnel and private guards assigned to Mr. Khan.
A second incident took place on March 18, when PTI workers once again stormed the Judicial Complex during Mr. Khan’s appearance in the Toshakhana case.
A case has also been registered at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station against Mr. Khan, PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, and several other party leaders regarding the riots.
