The Pakistan Super League (PSL) made history by unveiling its 10th edition trophy, named “Luminara,” in the waters of the Arabian Sea.
This unprecedented move marked a new milestone in the league’s history, showcasing the spirit of innovation, resilience, and excellence that has defined Pakistan’s premier T20 competition.
“Luminara” stood as a striking masterpiece, crafted from a single sheet of solid silver, meticulously machined to create intricate stone settings.
Weighing 10 kilograms, the trophy was adorned with 22,850 high-lustre zircon stones, symbolizing the stars, energy, and competitive excellence of HBL PSL.
The name “Luminara,” derived from the Latin words ‘luminare’ meaning ‘torch’ and ‘lumens’ meaning ‘light,’ represented the league’s decade-long journey of illuminating the path for cricketing excellence and entertainment.
The trophy unveiling took place in the open waters of the Arabian Sea. A professional diver, supported by the Pakistan Navy, recovered a treasure chest from the deep sea and handed over the prestigious trophy to PSL stakeholders present in Karachi.
This breathtaking spectacle symbolized the league’s depth, evolution, and unwavering spirit, and was witnessed by PCB officials, franchise representatives, and cricketers, further building excitement for the upcoming PSL X.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi stated, “The unveiling of ‘Luminara’ at sea is a testament to the league’s commitment to innovation and excellence. As we celebrate a decade of PSL, this trophy represents the league’s shining legacy and its bright future.”
PSL Chief Executive Officer, Salman Naseer, remarked, “The HBL Pakistan Super League has always been about pushing boundaries, both on and off the field.
Just as the sea holds mysteries and depth, PSL has been a deep reservoir of talent, resilience, and sportsmanship.
This unique unveiling represents the depth of passion our players and fans bring to the game.” The 10th edition of PSL is set to take place across four cities—Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi—starting 11 April to 18 May.
The opening match will feature defending champions Islamabad United against Lahore Qalandars at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
