A significant fire erupted in a wooden warehouse within the Timber Market of the Old Haji Camp area on Monday.
Officials reported that the fire originated in a wooden door warehouse spanning three shops in the Napier vicinity.
As the flames rapidly spread, four rickshaws and three motorcycles parked behind the warehouse were also consumed by the blaze.
Upon receiving notification, four fire tenders were initially dispatched to the location.
Due to the fire’s intensity, however, a Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) bowser and two additional fire tenders were summoned to assist in the firefighting efforts.
Rescue teams, police, and Rangers personnel arrived at the scene, and assistance was also requested from the Water Corporation. The fire was brought under control following a demanding two-and-a-half-hour operation involving six fire brigade vehicles.
The cooling process persisted for over two hours to prevent any resurgence of the flames.
A spokesperson for the Water Corporation stated that the Managing Director (MD) of the Water Corporation implemented an emergency at the Nipa Plant Hydrant, ensuring a consistent supply of water tankers to support the firefighting operations.
Despite the severity of the fire, no casualties were reported.
