Former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam’s father, Azam Siddique, has once again voiced his support for his son following his exclusion from the national T20 squad.
In a statement on social media platform X, Azam Siddique highlighted that Babar was dropped from the squad despite being named in the ICC T20 Team of the Year and receiving the prestigious cap.
He expressed confidence that Babar would regain his place in the team through his performances in the National T20 and PSL. He also urged former cricketers to be mindful of their words, stating, “If someone responds, it might not be easy to tolerate. You are the past, you will not play again.”
Defending his vocal stance, Siddique said, “People say the father speaks too much, but I am Babar’s first and last coach, his mentor, and his biggest well-wisher.” He also questioned the critics’ own performances during their playing careers.
He advised those questioning Babar’s selection to check the PCB’s official website, implying that the statistics speak for themselves.
It is worth noting that Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against New Zealand was announced two days ago. While Babar Azam was included in the ODI squad, he was left out of the T20 squad.
