According to security sources, the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Bannu Cantonment shortly after Iftar on the day of the incident. However, their plan was foiled due to the swift and decisive action of the security forces.
In a state of panic, the terrorists rammed two vehicles laden with explosives into the cantonment wall, causing devastating explosions.
The explosions resulted in significant damage to a nearby mosque.
Reports also indicated that the roof of a nearby house collapsed, leading to the martyrdom of nine civilians and injuries to 16 others.
Sources confirmed that six militants were killed at various entry points by vigilant security personnel, while the remaining terrorists were contained within a specific area.
The security forces’ clearance operation is ongoing, with sources stating that it will continue until all militants are eliminated.
