The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has reported that security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment through a rapid and decisive operation.
According to ISPR, the operation resulted in the elimination of 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers. Tragically, five valiant soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the cantonment.
The terrorists attempted to breach security by ramming two vehicles laden with explosives into the cantonment walls. The attack also resulted in the loss of 13 innocent civilian lives, with 32 others sustaining injuries.
ISPR further disclosed that evidence indicates the involvement of Afghan nationals in the assault. The terrorists aimed to penetrate the cantonment’s security perimeter, and the suicide bombings caused damage to the defensive walls.
Security forces remain on heightened alert to counter any potential future threats and ensure the region’s safety.
