Earthquake Tremors in Swat: Atmosphere of Fear

Tuesday saw earthquake tremors affecting Swat and its adjoining regions. Information provided by Islamabad’s earthquake monitoring center showed that the seismic event measured 4.1 on the Richter scale. The earthquake’s origin was located within the Hindukush mountain range, at a significant depth of 204 kilometers, which helped to lessen the surface impact. While there have been no immediate reports of casualties or property damage, the tremors were substantial enough to generate a sense of fear among the local population.
