Decision to Establish “Dallas Press Club” for the Welfare of Journalists
Report: Raja Zahid Akhtar Khanzada
Dallas: An informal meeting of journalists residing in Dallas, Texas, was held at a local restaurant, where it was decided to unite all journalists in the city and establish an organized platform for their welfare.
The meeting was attended by Zahid Rana, Chief Executive of Voice of South Asia; Raja Zahid Akhtar Khanzada, Editor-in-Chief of Jago Times; Managing Editor Fayaz Hassan; Vice President Amir Ali Makhani; Salman Abidi, head of Soch TV; Minhaz Basheer; and other prominent journalists.
On this occasion, participants emphasized that while journalists in Dallas are actively engaged in serving the community on an individual level, the absence of an effective platform has led to a lack of strong communication between the community and the media. Although many individuals provide information through social media and various local and Pakistani media houses, a dedicated forum is essential to ensure the welfare of journalists and strengthen their professional connections.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish an organized and effective platform for journalists in Dallas, to be named the “Dallas Press Club.” To achieve this, two action committees have been formed, which will fulfill all administrative and legal requirements for the club’s establishment and ensure that the process is completed as soon as possible.
It was also decided that both committees will present progress updates at the next meeting scheduled for one month later.
The participants also agreed that membership of the “Dallas Press Club” will be open to all journalists associated with any form of media, including those who serve the community independently through social media.
This initiative marks the beginning of a new era for journalists in Dallas, ensuring their welfare while also strengthening the relationship between the media and the community.
