HBO’s 2023 massive hit “The Last of Us” has finally revealed the release date for its highly anticipated second season.
After a two-year break, season 2 is set to premiere on April 13, 2025, following the gripping journey of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.
While season 1 was based on PlayStation’s first video game, season 2 will adapt its sequel, “The Last of Us: Part II.”
Similar to the game, the new season will take place five years later, portraying the beloved duo facing even more terrifying fungal zombie clickers.
HBO took to Instagram to unveil character posters for the main cast, each featuring the tagline: “Every path has a price.”
Through these posters, a key new character, Abby, was introduced, who will be portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever.
The series is written and produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the co-creators of the video game series.
Season 2 will consist of seven episodes, released weekly. Mazin described it as “a feast”, stating:
“If you consider action, drama, and scale as elements of an epic, each episode delivers a punch. You will not be bored.”
