Islamabad: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi announced the prescribed rates for Sadaqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for Ramadan.
Minimum Amount for Sadaqa-e-Fitr and Fidya
The minimum amount per person for Sadaqa-e-Fitr and Fidya has been set at Rs220.
Rates Based on Different Commodities
- Wheat: Rs220
- Barley: Rs450
- Dates: Rs1,650
- Raisins: Rs2,500
- Dried Grapes (Munqqa): Rs5,000
Encouragement for Affluent Individuals
Dr. Naeemi urged wealthy individuals to contribute according to their financial capacity instead of opting for the minimum wheat-based rate.
He clarified that Sadaqa-e-Fitr is obligatory for every Muslim, whether free or enslaved, male or female, young or old, who possesses the means.
Instructions for Other Provinces
Residents of provinces other than Punjab should calculate their Sadaqa-e-Fitr and Fidya based on the local prices of the respective commodities.
Prescribed Weight for Commodities
- Wheat: Half Sa’a (Approx. 2kg)
- Barley, Dates, and Dried Grapes: One Sa’a (Approx. 4kg)
Fidya for 30 Missed Fasts (Per Person)
- Wheat: Rs6,600
- Barley: Rs13,500
- Dates: Rs49,500
- Raisins: Rs75,000
- Dried Grapes (Munqqa): Rs150,000
Kaffara (For Intentionally Breaking a Fast)
- Fasting for 60 consecutive days
- Or feeding 60 needy individuals two meals a day
Reduced Rate for Subsidized Wheat Flour Users
Those consuming government-subsidized wheat flour can pay Rs160 as Sadaqa-e-Fitr or Fidya.
Payment Before Eid Recommended
Dr. Naeemi advised Muslims to fulfill their Sadaqa-e-Fitr obligations before Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure that those in need can celebrate the occasion with ease.
