KARACHI: Pakistan defeated Japan 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the 22nd Asian Junior Squash Team Championship 2025, securing a place in the semi-finals.
Anas Ali Shah gave Pakistan an early lead by defeating Renshi Makino 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8 in a 53-minute match.
Japan’s Shu Takahashi equalized the match with a hard-fought 57-minute victory over Sakhi Ullah Khan Tareen, winning 11-9, 11-6, 2-11, 7-11, 11-8.
In the decisive match, Abdullah Nawaz delivered a dominant performance, overcoming Shunsaku Kariyazono 11-7, 11-5, 12-10 in just 30 minutes to seal Pakistan’s victory.
Pakistan will now face South Korea in the semi-final tomorrow.
Earlier, Pakistan remained unbeaten in the group stage with victories over India, China, and Macau.
