London/Islamabad: Gentry Beach, a Texas hedge fund manager and close associate of the Trump family, has stated that Richard Grenell, President Donald Trump’s aide, “may have been misled” about his support for Imran Khan’s campaign by a lobby in the United States.
Beach, who is leading a business delegation in Islamabad, expressed confidence that Grenell has a much clearer understanding of the complex issues facing Pakistan, which may be why he stopped tweeting in support of PTI.
Grenell, who works closely with President Trump, deleted dozens of tweets he had posted in support of Imran, but two tweets remain on his timeline.
During an interview in Islamabad, Beach said: “Richard Grenell is one of the finest Americans I have ever met. He gets more done in a week than most people do in a year. He is absolutely effective, incredibly smart, and humble. I am in awe of Ambassador Grenell. I would say I do believe he may have been misled about some of these issues by certain individuals.”
Beach claimed that there is a lobby in the US that spends $2 to $3 million per month “related to Imran Khan.”
“I’m not an expert on these matters, but I do believe Grenell has a better understanding of the true situation today than before. He has a better understanding now.”
Beach said he would be surprised if Grenell started tweeting again. “I do believe he’s supportive of American interests here. I do believe he’s supportive of the current administration, and business people like myself who are trying to make bridges. Currently, Grenell is having to clean up the mess left by the Biden administration all over the world. He is the perfect person to do this.”
He added: “I spoke to him and he said he has a better understanding of the facts now than before. I would be surprised if he retweeted or did any of the things he was doing before. I think he understands it’s a much more complicated situation. He may have been misled by some individuals, and he probably has a better understanding now.”
A high-level United States investment delegation, led by Beach, is in Pakistan for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening economic and bilateral ties.
