PTI Founder Directs Raja to Start Consultations for Party Reorganization in Punjab
Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has appointed Junaid Akbar as the party president for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The decision follows Akbar’s election as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), which he secured with support from both the opposition and the government. PAC is regarded as one of the most powerful parliamentary bodies, with the authority to summon individuals or records from government departments in financial matters.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja issued Akbar’s appointment notification, replacing Ali Amin Gandapur, who also serves as the province’s chief minister.
Imran Khan has also instructed Raja to initiate consultations for the reorganization of the party in Punjab.
Raja confirmed that Gandapur himself did not want to continue as the provincial president, and the PTI leader directed him to focus on issues related to terrorism and governance in the province.
Sources revealed that Khan, concerned about corruption issues in KP, has urged Gandapur to step away from Dera Ismail Khan politics.
Additionally, Akbar has been tasked by the PTI founder to address and resolve party matters in KP.
