Ryan Gosling is preparing to team up with Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy.
The Barbie actor is reportedly in talks to take the lead role in the upcoming Star Wars film, directed by the Canadian filmmaker.
Additionally, screenwriter Jonathan Tropper, known for The Adam Project, is said to be penning the screenplay for the film.
This movie will be a standalone project, separate from the Skywalker Saga, which concluded with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
Gosling’s participation could bring immediate attention to the project, making it a high-priority film for Lucasfilm, who may release it ahead of other previously announced Star Wars films.
Another confirmed Star Wars project, The Mandalorian & Grogu, is slated for release in May 2026, with filmmakers James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Dave Filoni involved.
This new venture would be a major milestone for Gosling, positioning him alongside other actors who are already part of significant franchises.
In the meantime, Ryan Gosling will also star in the sci-fi thriller Hail Mary, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, set to hit theaters in March 2026.
