Texas: Many Pakistani-American individuals claimed they received invitations to attend the inauguration of newly elected President Donald Trump at Capitol Hill. However, according to sources, VIP tickets were only awarded to two Pakistani-Americans from Texas – oil tycoon Syed Javed Anwar and renowned businessman Tahir Javed.
Reports indicate that Syed Javed Anwar received two tickets, but due to health reasons, he could not attend the event and transferred his tickets to his son and daughter-in-law, who attended in his place.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who was visiting the U.S., also made efforts through the Pakistani ambassador to attend the event but was unsuccessful. Despite being in Washington, he could not participate. According to our information, only one Pakistani-American, prominent businessman Tahir Javed, attended, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to the U.S., Saeed Sheikh.
It was further revealed that due to severe cold, the ceremony was held indoors at Capitol Hill. Only key figures in Sections 3 and 4 were provided seats inside, limiting the number of attendees. Many individuals with tickets for distant seats could not join the event due to the venue change and adverse weather. Interestingly, several Pakistani-American businessmen continue to assert their presence at the event, despite the venue change and unfavorable weather preventing their attendance.
