Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering well after sustaining multiple stab wounds during an attempted robbery at his Bandra home in the early hours of January 16.
Doctors at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that, as his condition improved, he had been moved from the ICU to a special room.
A statement from Saif’s treating doctor reassured fans, saying, “Saif Ali Khan’s condition is stable. He is feeling better and has been shifted to a special room. Visitors are restricted to prevent infection.”
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, said, “I was the first to meet Saif Ali Khan when he came to the hospital. He was drenched in blood but he walked in like a lion with only his small child, Taimur. Saif Ali Khan is a real hero…He is doing well. He has been shifted from ICU to a normal room.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Nitin Dange noted that while his recovery is progressing well, his movements remain limited due to a spinal injury.
The incident occurred at 2:15 AM when a burglar allegedly broke into Saif and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s home. The intruder attacked their house help, prompting Saif to intervene. He fought off the assailant with his bare hands, sustaining multiple stab wounds and escaped serious injury by just two millimeters.
During surgery, doctors removed a sharp-edged piece of a Hexa blade lodged in Saif’s body. The police have since seized the weapon as part of their investigation.
Despite the severity of the attack, Saif is showing strong signs of recovery, and doctors remain optimistic about his progress.
Earlier today, the Mumbai Police apprehended a suspect 30 hours after the incident, with a video showing the accused being escorted to the Bandra police station now circulating online. Investigations into the case are ongoing, with further details awaited.
The attack, which reportedly occurred during a burglary attempt at the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building, was captured on CCTV. The footage showed the intruder entering the premises with a wooden stick and a Hexa blade, then fleeing via the rear gate, which was not covered by security cameras.
