Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood termed the forthcoming Test series against the West Indies as “crucial” for the Green Shirts.
Ahead of the Multan Test against the West Indies, Masood shared his thoughts, saying, “Test cricket holds great importance in home conditions.”
He emphasized the significance of playing in home conditions, describing it as a crucial factor for any team’s success.
Masood elaborated on the team’s preparations, expressing optimism about delivering strong performances.
He stated, “Everyone strives to give their best performance. Over the past year, we found ourselves in winning positions several times but failed to capitalize. The lesson for the team is to learn how to convert those opportunities into victories.”
The captain also addressed the challenges posed by diverse playing conditions and emphasized adaptability. He said, “A Test match spans five days, and conditions play a pivotal role. On spin tracks, spinners become critical, whereas fast bowlers are given opportunities when required.”
Recalling past experiences, he said, “In South Africa’s fast-bowling conditions, we included Mohammad Abbas. Our batting order is now settled, and batting must complement bowling for success.”
Meanwhile, the Test series between Pakistan and the West Indies took a ceremonial start yesterday with the unveiling of the trophy in Multan.
Shan Masood, captain of Pakistan’s national Test team, and Kraigg Brathwaite, captain of the West Indies, conducted the unveiling ceremony.
The highly anticipated first Test match is scheduled to begin in Multan tomorrow.
