Confirmation hearings for Trump’s Cabinet and Other High-Ranking Appointments
Confirmation hearings for President-elect Donald Trump’s picks for his cabinet and other senior positions began on Tuesday, with defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth being the first to face questioning from U.S. senators.
Trump has selected nominees for key posts including defense, intelligence, health, diplomacy, trade, justice, immigration, and economic policymaking. These nominees will need a simple majority in the 100-seat Senate for confirmation.
The hearings are crucial as Republicans hold 53 seats in the Senate, but some of Trump’s selections may face opposition that could complicate their confirmation.
