Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated on Tuesday that no deal had been offered to Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In his criticism of political opponents, Asif remarked, “The language used by the opposition yesterday shows their lack of seriousness in making negotiations with the government successful.”
Responding to one of PTI’s demands to move talks forward, he said, “How can we (the government) interfere with the judicial investigation? The cases of PTI leaders are ongoing in the courts.”
He added, “When it comes to negotiations, it means both parties end up accusing each other.”
A few days ago, Asif rejected reports claiming pressure for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, stressing that no offer had been made by the government to shift Khan to his Bani Gala residence or any other location.
Speaking at an event in Sialkot, Khawaja Asif clarified that all PTI attempts to destabilize the country had failed, pointing to improvements in Pakistan’s economic indicators.
He firmly rejected PTI’s claims, stating that such reports were baseless.
“There is no truth in PTI’s claim that the government offered to move Imran Khan to Bani Gala or any other place. These claims are being made by PTI themselves,” the minister said.
