Her Son Had the Honor of Being a Witness at Her Nikkah
Pakistani woman Madiha Kazmi has opened up about her journey of remarrying 18 years after her divorce, emphasizing that she prioritized her children’s approval over her own desire for a new relationship.
In an interview with BBC Urdu, Kazmi explained that when her divorce occurred, her children were very young, so she focused on their stability rather than remarrying.
She highlighted that societal norms often make it difficult for children to accept their mother’s new partner. Thus, she made it a condition for her new relationship that her partner must be willing to accept her children first.
Her son, Abdul Ahad, discussed this journey in a recent interview, sharing that although several proposals had come over the years, their mother had consistently turned them down. However, one day, Kazmi approached Abdul Ahad to discuss a potential match, marking a significant turning point.
During the wedding ceremony, Abdul Ahad had the rare honor of being a witness to his mother’s marriage, a moment that was praised by the cleric officiating the ceremony.
