Following North Korea’s recent missile launch, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, expressed concern and called for the revival of talks among the relevant parties to address the challenges on the Korean Peninsula.
Pakistan reiterated its support for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and urged the cessation of further nuclear weapons testing. Akram emphasized that provocations such as missile tests and coercive actions must be ended in order to safeguard regional and international peace.
Pakistan expressed hope that the UN Security Council would play its role in reducing tensions and contributing to peace and security in the region.
North Korea launched a new type of intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile on Monday, which was detected by South Korea’s military. A senior UN official warned that North Korea’s military actions threaten the global non-proliferation framework.
