Meta announced the appointment of three new directors to its board, including Dana White, the CEO of UFC and a known ally of US President-elect Donald Trump.
These appointments come as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg strengthens ties with the incoming Trump administration, including a reported $1 million donation to Trump’s inauguration fund.
Zuckerberg also dined with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in November, as the company works to rebuild its relationship with the incoming US leader.
White stated he had never been interested in joining a board until Meta offered him a position, highlighting his belief in the future of social media and AI.
Alongside White, Exor CEO John Elkann and former Microsoft executive Charlie Songhurst will also join the board.
The appointments are part of Meta’s growing focus on artificial intelligence and wearable technology.
Zuckerberg remarked, “Dana, John, and Charlie will bring expertise and perspectives that will help us tackle the massive opportunities ahead with AI, wearables, and the future of human connection.”
