The Lahore Accountability Court has indicted PTI President and former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi in a corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Case Details
Parvez Elahi, his son Moonis Elahi, and others stand accused of approving development projects unlawfully, awarding contracts to preferred contractors, and causing over Rs1 billion in losses to the national treasury.
Key Allegations by NAB:
- Kickbacks worth Rs1 billion were received in over 200 projects in Gujrat.
- €1.61 million was deposited into Moonis Elahi’s foreign account.
- Rs304 million was transferred to family accounts.
Anti-Corruption Allegations
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab alleged illegal recruitments during Parvez Elahi’s tenure, bypassing qualified candidates in favor of unqualified individuals.
PTI’s Legal Troubles
This case adds to the legal challenges faced by PTI leadership. Party founder Imran Khan, alongside other senior leaders, has been in custody for months.
The indictment comes amid ongoing negotiations between PTI and the government, where the party consistently demands the release of its leader and workers.
