At least two Indian soldiers were killed, and three others injured when an army vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near the Wular Viewpoint in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Masarat Iqbal Wani, the medical superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora, reported, “Five injured were brought here, two of whom were brought dead, while three others in critical condition have been referred to Srinagar for further treatment.”
This tragic accident follows another mishap along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district the previous week, where five soldiers lost their lives and five others were critically injured. Authorities have ruled out any terrorist involvement in both incidents.
The Kashmir Valley has been experiencing severe cold waves and dense fog for the past month. The meteorological department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Saturday and an ‘orange’ alert for Sunday, warning of heavy snowfall in the middle and higher reaches.
